Context & Scope
Worked on the mechanical design of deployable systems intended for compact stowage and reliable actuation in outdoor applications, with emphasis on synchronized motion, aesthetics, and manufacturable assemblies.
Technical Contributions
Conceptualized deployable mechanism architectures and translated them into detailed CAD models using SolidWorks, focusing on compact packaging and controlled deployment.
Designed synchronized multi-link deployment using planetary gear arrangements and custom cam–slot linkages to ensure repeatable motion across multiple components.
Conducted kinematic motion studies to validate deployment sequencing, interference-free operation, and robustness to manufacturing tolerances.
Evaluated design alternatives based on reliability, assembly complexity, and suitability for high-cycle outdoor use.
Key Engineering Considerations
Synchronization tolerance between moving elements, backlash sensitivity in gear trains, and long-term wear at cam–slot interfaces were critical factors guiding design decisions.
Tools & Methods
SolidWorks, Ansys, motion studies, tolerance analysis
