Context & Scope

Contributed to aerodynamic analysis of a fixed-wing UAV, focusing on stability characteristics and aerodynamic interactions relevant to distributed propulsion configurations.

Technical Contributions

  • Performed longitudinal and lateral–directional stability analysis using XFLR5 and VSPAero to assess center-of-gravity placement and dynamic mode behavior.

  • Evaluated aerodynamic sensitivity to CG shifts and configuration changes to improve flight stability and control predictability.

  • Simulated propeller–wing interaction effects in ANSYS Fluent using rotating reference frames to quantify downwash influence on wing lift.

  • Analyzed flow-field modifications induced by propulsion systems and assessed their implications for aerodynamic performance and design trade-offs.

Key Engineering Considerations

Coupling between propulsion-induced flow and lifting surfaces, mesh resolution near rotating interfaces, and stability margins under varying operating conditions were central to the analysis.
